Periodontal disease, commonly referred to as gum disease, is the most common disease in dogs. According to recent studies, almost 90% of dogs will have developed some form of periodontal disease by 2 years of age! Small and toy breed dogs are particularly susceptible, and its incidence increases with age. Despite the prevalence, periodontal diseases are underdiagnosed, partially due to lack of education, but mostly from the lack of outward clinical signs. For these reasons, therapy typically comes very late in the course of disease. This lack of diagnosis and prompt therapy may lead to progressive periodontal disease, with numerous local and systemic consequences1. This is absolutely a- paw-ling!!! The commercial dog food industry contributes a lot to this issue, but truly you should be brushing your dog's teeth at least once a day. It only takes 30 seconds to two minutes and it creates, not only fresher breath for all those licks, but also health longevity, and it helps to create a closer and stronger bond between you and your pup! Not to mention the benefits of your dog learning to not bite down or snip when hands are around their mouth. The dog toothpaste on the market is expensive and full of toxic ingredients! It is never too early or to late to start something new in life and the same goes for our pups! Get you and your dog started today!!!
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Start by choosing a soft-bristled toothbrush that is designed for dogs. Pure Purée Puppy Paste™️ comes with a finger brush, which fits over your finger and has small bristles on the end.
- Pure Purée Puppy Paste™️ is made from natural ingredients and is non-toxic to dogs. Do not use human toothpaste, as it can be harmful to your dog if ingested.
- Get your dog comfortable with having their mouth handled. Start by gently rubbing their lips and gums with your finger, then progress to rubbing their teeth and gums.
- Give them a reward afterward, so that they are reinforced for their good behavior.
- Repeat daily! This will get your dog used to the routine and eventually they will loosen up to toothbrushing. Along with disease prevention and cleaner-smelling breath, brushing daily will also help create a closer bond between you and your best friend!
